May 15th, 2018, Stuttgart, Germany – Dr. Dirk Simon, Managing Director of Farsoon Technologies – Europe, attended VDI Strategiekongress Additive Manufacturing Conference and delivered a presentation titled “Laser sintering for series production: Farsoon innovation strategies for reducing costs of parts”. This marked the first time for Farsoon Europe to present directly to the European audience.
For 2018, the topic of the VDI Conference was: “Von der Vision zum zukunftsfähigen Geschäftsmodell”or simply translated “From a vision to a sustainable business model“.
Responding to this topic, Dr. Dirk Simon introduces Farsoon’s “Open business model”, which encourage the integration of forces from material, equipment, software, production and end users. Founded with a clear vision and core commitment to creating an open platform system, Farsoon give the users the freedom to innovate and expand the envelope of sintering technology for industry – summed up with Farsoon’s “Open for industry” philosophy.
Speaking further on Farsoon’s innovative strategies of “Open materials, open configurations, open applications, open possibilities”, Dr. Dirk Simon showcased how these strategies can create a significant influence for moving additive manufacturing to series production.” Innovation is the key,” Dr. Dirk Simon explained, “With a significant innovation force in various aspects of AM industry including machine R&D, material R&D, application R&D and quality assurance, Farsoon is able to supply total solution of industrial grade metal and plastic laser sintering to the customers.” Dr. Simon’s presentation was warmly received by the audience and shows Farsoon’s commitment to growing the additive industry in Europe.

About Dr. Dirk Simon:
Dirk Simon worked in BASF for nearly 6 years and pushed the topic “3D-Printing at BASF” from Scouting through New Business Incubation into the Business Build-up. He holds a PhD-degree in Polymer Science and has over 20 years working experiences in Applications of Plastics, Marketing & Sales, Purchasing and Management in various chemical companies in Germany and Switzerland. Most recently he has held the position of Global Business Director with BASF New Business GmbH, and part of the management team of BASF 3D-Printing Solutions GmbH in Heidelberg. In this function he has been responsible to build the 3D-Printing teams in BASF from the scratch, establishing the 3D-P Application Technology Center and starting up the business development of BASF 3D-P solutions.
